How Does it Work?
Essential fatty acids (EFAs)are not produced by the body, yet they are important to the health of our cells, heart, brain and body.Consumption of omega 3 fatty acids like eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)—found in fish oil—may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. The FDA evaluated the scientific data and determined that, although there is scientific evidence supporting the claim, the evidence is not conclusive. The body uses omega-3 EFAs as one of the primary components of cell membranes. When there is a shortage of omega-3s, the body uses saturated fat to construct the cell membrane, resulting in less elastic membranes.

Scientific Data
Omega-3 fatty acids also may help maintain blood pressure levels that are already within the normal range. Omega-3s are also beneficial to the structural system and to the skin.
